Where I've Been...

Life has just been plain busy for the last few months! My daughter's best friend is getting married next month and Taylor is, of course, in the wedding. Taylor and I hosted a bridal shower for Emily yesterday. I made the invitations. The theme was "A Perfect Pair".
A soccer cleat to represent the prospective groom and a high heeled pump for the girly-girl bride to be!
I made them a bouquet of roses. We teased Emily and told her we would love her until those roses died...which will be NEVER since they're made out of coffee filters! ha ha Joann's had their vinyl letters clearanced out so I picked one up for 50 cents and personalized the vase with their monogram.

I decided to keep the menu quite simple. Veggie pizza, Chex party mix, chips & salsa, Oreo cookie pudding dessert, a strawberry yogurt pie and cupcakes.
I made a cupcake tier from cardboard boxes wrapped in brown packaging paper and decorated them with ribbons, coffee filter roses and circles/letters cut on my fabulous cousin's Cricut. (I NEEEED a Cricut! ha ha ha) Notice the cute little shoe on the 2nd tower? I found a 12 pack of them at my local Dollar Tree. The cupcake picks were made using a scalloped punch, flat craft sticks (found 'em at Hobby Lobby), glue dots and "A Perfect Pair" squares printed on the computer. (I always try to give credit where credit is due...I originally found the cupcake tier idea from Amanda @ Imperfectly Beautiful...thanks for sharing such a cute idea, Amanda!!!)

My photo board plan went awry, let's just put it that way! The Kodak picture maker machine was down when Taylor went to print some pictures off of the groom through the years. I had pictures of the bride but nothin' of the groom so that idea went out the window! Did I mention this all happened like 2 hours before the shower started? Yeah, so I just had to let it go. It really bugged me whenever I looked at it but oh well...
This is my oldest daughter, Taylor and her best friend, Emily. The girls have been friends since middle school. It doesn't seem possible that Em is getting married!
And last but not least, here is a picture of me and my family that was taken at my brother-in-law's wedding this past Saturday. (Although it appears that way, my son is NOT making bunny ears behind my head! lol)

This Friday marks the 2 year anniversary since I was initially diagnosed with breast cancer. 2 years later I'm still around so I decided to have a "SURVIVOR" party to CELEBRATE LIFE! We're having family and friends over, plenty of food, a fire and music. There's a tent in my backyard waiting for the party! I ended up sending out about 50 some invitations. I'm looking so forward to having the special people in my life celebrate with our family! I'll have to take lots of pictures and share them here on the blog :)
