A Dress For a Dance
My youngest daughter Tess attended the winter dance at her school several months ago and wanted me to sew her a dress to wear. Even though I made my wedding dress about 21 years ago, I have to admit that I haven't sewn clothes too often since the kids were a lot younger. I really enjoy sewing home decorating projects...just not clothes! So needless to say, my first thought was to tell Tess no and instead go dress shopping with her. But her heart was set on it so I did eventually agree. Tess chose the fabric/pattern and I got to work. The dress turned out nicely and Tess was happy. We even made a rosette pin and matching hair accessory!
Thanks for looking,
~Michelle :)

I'm Back!
Hello all! Gosh, it sure has been a while since I've been here! Lots of changes have taken place in my life over the last several months. As life goes, some of those things have been wonderful and some not so wonderful. Here are a few to mention:
*My husband & I took an awesome trip to Cancun. We enjoyed ourselves very much!
*After that trip, my husband was hospitalized because he had contracted a parasite while in Cancun and the doctors told us he was within hours of his major organs shutting down.
*We moved this past April. I hate moving but love our new place!
*I recently celebrated my 3 YEAR CANCER SURVIVOR BIRTHDAY!! I am feeling quite well. I have my routine appointment with my radiation oncologist next week.

*Our oldest daughter graduated from high school and is preparing to move out on her own. She is our 2nd child to leave the nest.
*I take care of a 6-month old baby boy several days a week and I just LOVE it! (Nope, I don't need any grandbabies right now! I enjoy this little guy very much, then I can give him back to his mommy & daddy!)
*I've still been decorating, sewing, crafting, scrapbooking, etc. I made a few gifts for my sweet sister-in-law's 40th birthday. She loved everything and I was so pleased!

Happy 2011 and a return to blogging???
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! The last part of "2010" brought with it numerous changes for my family and me. Some happy, some frustrating but ah, such is life, right? Here are a couple of the major things... Our oldest child moved out and is living on his own now. Additionally, I faced another surgery (a complete hysterectomy) in the month of December but the recovery is going quite well. I'm praising God no cancer was found and life is moving right along again.
I haven't blogged in such a long time so it feels very odd to actually be writing a post! Hope you're all doing well. Have a wonderful week!

Oh My, Where Has the Time Gone?
I cannot believe I only posted ONCE in September! (Not sure who even reads this little blog anymore :)
At any rate, here's an update...August and September were filled with doctor's appointments, tests, waiting...waiting...waiting. More appointments and tests and waiting. I found out my cancer has not metastasized but I do have degenerative arthritis. OK, so I can definitely live with that!
My camera is no longer in working order so there's a big lack of pictures here. Not currently in the budget to go splurge on a new one. (Boo hoo!) No pictures = boring blog posts.
Anyhow, I'm still around. Just keeping quite busy with life. Hope all is well with everyone!

A Few Wedding Pics :)
My daughter Taylor and her best friend, Emily. She was such a beautiful bride!
My two lovely daughters, Tess and Taylor. They are growing up so quickly! Taylor will be a senior and Tess will begin her freshmen year in high school.
My advice if you have little ones...savor each moment 'cause the seasons of life change rapidly and before you know it, they are grown!

Just A Little Update
No pictures today...just an update. Yeah, I know I've been slipping further and further off the blogging radar. I've just had a lot of big, majorly important things going on in life. The routine check-up appointment with my radiation oncologist at the beginning of this month involved several tests as we wondered if my cancer had returned 'cause I've been in constant pain. My right hip, back, shoulders and neck hurt all the time. I had an x-ray first, then a full body bone scan and finally an MRI on my spine. Well, today I received the most wonderful news that I DO NOT HAVE CANCER AGAIN!!!!
My daughter's friend got married this past weekend and I've been super caught up in various projects for that. Everything went well and the wedding was beautiful! It was an outdoor ceremony at the home of the bride's grandparents. The weather cooperated and we all enjoyed a very nice time :)
We've got a lot of celebrating to do around here this week. Tomorrow is my son's birthday and the day after that is my husband's birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary! I feel like a very blessed girl :)

A Survivor Celebration!
Yesterday marked the 2 year anniversary since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I mentioned in my last post about having a "survivor" celebration. The party was last night and boy, did we ever have a good time!
I changed a few things on the cupcake tier and reused it for my party.
I wrote out 42 random facts about me to share. (In case you're wondering where the 42 comes in, that's how old I am :)
Party decorations made from coffee filters and cardstock die-cuts. I went to my local scrapbook store and cut the breast cancer ribbons myself using their die-cut machine. You buy the paper (55 cents) and the first 20 cuts are free. Not a bad deal!
My sweet cousin made this adorable "Celebrate Life" banner using her Cricut.
I wasn't expecting any gifts at all but several people brought some very nice things. Not pictured is a Pandora bracelet and pretty charm. The bracelet had to be sized. Some family friends also made a donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in my name. Sooo, so sweet!
Our wonderful pastor and his family brought this beautiful rose bush. Now I've just gotta find the perfect spot in my yard to plant it!
I can't begin to tell you how loved and special I felt last night! I am truly blessed to have an amazing family and wonderful friends!
