The Halloween Kitchen...A Scary Place!
Just thought I'd give you all a little glimpse into the BEFORE of our kitchen when we first moved in a couple of months ago. A bit frightening, huh?! I was surprised by a number of things...
#1. Who chooses orange walls and black cabinets for a kitchen?
#2. Who does such a sloppy painting job and actually leaves it that way?
There were random splotches of paint everywhere...floor, ceiling, hinges/knobs! Maybe it's just a personal pet peeve or whatever, but they had also painted EVERYTHING orange...walls, trim, window sills, outlet covers, light switches...blah! (I'm so thankful the ceiling/doors weren't that orange color!) So, what do you think...do you paint over all of those things or are they white? I prefer white myself.
Stay tuned to see the improvements I've made! Enjoy your day!

Oh dear, a kitchen like that would rob me of the joy of cooking! I am looking forward to seeing what you did to transform it from a scary place to something much more cheerful.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....how dreadful!!
ReplyDeleteOver the years and 48 moves (to different apartments, flats and houses), I've seen it all!! Nothing surprises me anymore!
And......I do all the painting myself. I even worked as a professional interior painter for my landlord. I painted every one of his apartments when people moved out.
Carefully, quickly and neatly. That was my motto.
I sometimes wonder in my house what were the prior owners thinking! I prefer everything white myself!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed that you could even enter that kitchen. Wow. What do people think when they leave messes like that?
ReplyDeleteAnd I have all white trim and doors. I just like it that way. Although... I've been seeing some interior doors painted black around the blogosphere and they look pretty awesome.
Can't wait to see all your new kitchen! Love the chocolate color and love me some animal print!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, That would be so hard for me to cook in an ugly kitchen. I would feel the same way you do. It would be dreary indeed. I can't wait to see what you do to make it a cheery, happy and adorable. Hugs, Kathi PS I'm still on blog leave, but couldn't resist popping in.
