Yeah, I'm Still Around...

I'm still here - just took a little blogging break...

I had a routine appointment with my oncologist last Monday (a week ago). After some discussion about how severe the side effects of the treatment were, the doctor decided to decrease my weekly dosage by 20% AND I don't have to "make up" any additional treatment weeks (yay!). Last Tuesday was the first decreased dose and boy, let me tell ya - it made ALL the difference in the world! I felt a little bit achy but nowhere near like I had been feeling so I was VERY thankful for that. It's like I have this new attitude now - like 'yes, I CAN get through this...'

The only not-so-great thing that came out of the appointment was that I will have to go have a few x-rays on my spine. I've been having some pain there. My doctor DOES NOT believe the cancer has spread...he said that's very rare while undergoing chemo...so this is just a 'get it checked out to be safe' type of thing.

This morning is another chemo treatment. We got more snow overnight so I've gotta get moving to be on time...my car needs to be cleared off and warmed up...oh, the joys of living of MI...I believe today's HIGH temp won't even be double digits...brrrr!!!!!!!

Have an awesome day!

  1. I am glad the 20% is making a difference. I have been thinking about you and your family.
    Good luck with your treatment.
Michelle, I truly care about you, and pray that everything will go well well for you. I pray you will be able to manage the treatments and they will eradicate this terrible disease.
One of the first posts I read of yours was of your sweet daughter's poems to you... You have had a section of my heart and my prayers since then.
    Bless your heart...Don't freeze !!!!

We'll be praying while you continue your chemo and have x-rays of your spine and await the results.

  6. I am so glad you are getting a bit of relief with your decreased dosage. We continue to keep you in our prayers. I will also pray that everything with your spine is just fine!

I am still a little jealous of your snow, but NOT of the cold. It has been in the 50's here, but starting tomorrow it will begin to drop. We will have highs in the 30's and lows in the teens by Thursday. I just happen to have a meeting with my attorney downtown on Thursday. It will be SO cold! Our downtown is always much, much colder for some reason; I think it is the wind. So, I'm borrowing a heavy coat from my neighbor, who used to live in the cold weather. I know you will find this amusing... I don't have a real winter coat.

I'm thinking about you every day. Love and hugs to you dear friend.

  7. Oh Michelle, I'm so glad you don't have as much pain with the 20% reduction. I pray that there is nothing to the spine pain.

I love you pretty red flowers. They look so cheerful.

I've been wondering about how cold you all must be. I hope you can stay warm and that this freezing weather hurries past.

Things are so much better with my son this week. Thanks so much for praying for me too. Hugs, Kathi
