My Hard-Workin' Boy

Last night my husband & I took our youngest daughter out to dinner. Tess said she was in the mood for Chinese food so we ended up going to the restaurant where our son works. (They have such a great buffet there...yum!) Tyler was actually at work and last night he was bussing tables. (He does a variety of jobs there.) Bobby, Tess & I were seated in the same dining room where Tyler was working and I must say, it was pretty entertaining to watch him. Tyler's such a hard worker and he interacts very well with people. I was proud to see that :) Boy, he is ever fast, too!

He was clearing a table when we were leaving and I walked over there to say goodbye. Tyler got this goofy smile and said to me, 'Mom, I'm NOT hugging ya right now!' I teased him right back...'Oh, but WHY NOT?!' Nah, I wouldn't really have embarrassed him like that. I just said bye and left :)

The kids go back to school tomorrow. I *think* they're actually looking forward to it!

Tomorrow is also the day I have an appointment to see my oncologist. One of the nurses threw the option out to me at the last chemo treatment to have my dosage slightly decreased because I've been having such severe side effects. It's definitely something to talk about with my doctor, but Bobby & I feel it's better to just get through these next 8 treatments instead of extending it weeks longer. You can't even IMAGINE how badly I want to be DONE with chemo!

Hope everyone enjoys a peaceful Sunday :)

  1. How wonderful for you to witness your son in a hard working and responsible environment without mom and dad encouraging him to do and be so. It is kind of a proud moment:) Michelle, he sounds like an awesome son!
God bless and good luck tomorrow.
I have song I would love to find and send to you which helped me through a tough time...It's title is "Your Not Alone!" Your post remined me me of it...

On my blog you can get a beautiful picture of the Savior if you want.

  4. Nothing better than Chinese food -- and what a treasure to see your son working there!!!!

Yes, I DO know what you are going through and how badly you want it all over! I remember the day after my 4th treatment (I had 6) I was having such severe side effects and my oncologist gave me the option to stop the chemo treatments then and go on to the surgery. It was a strange thing -- given the option, I said NO! I actually wanted the 2 more chemos, as that was he thought was best for me. So I did it, got through it best I could. When you are in it, it seems forever. But it WILL pass, it WILL be over, and life WILL go on! I'm praying for you every day, believe me!

  6. Michelle, I'm so happy you got to see Tyler working hard and doing a great job. It's wonderful to have those moments of pride in our kids.

I am so sorry that the side effects are so bad. Oh I will double my prayers for you. I am replying to your letter this morning. I have stayed away from my computer because my husband doesn't want me on it so often. I am honoring him. I do want to write to you though. Have a pleasant Tuesday sweet girl. Kathi

  7. Hi Michelle
I have been enjoying reading your blog and you have such strength and are so inspiring..*Hugs*.
You must have been very proud at the restaurant where your son worked...I used to threaten my boys with something similar like those hugs in public.. We used to have fun with that.

I hope you are having an exceptionally wonderful day today...and feeling good. Another day to feeling more like yourself and moving on with the rest of your life!

Blessings...come by and visit when you have some time.

  8. Life got crazy busy over the holidays and I have not had the chance to do much blog reading and even when I did not much commenting. Monday, I opened my blog reader account and it said there were 400-something unread posts! BUT, you have been in my thoughts and prayers. In fact, your name is written on my prayer list right next to my friend Jan who is taking chemo treatments right now too. So, each day a little prayer goes up for peace and healing.

  9. Just checking in with you....
I keep check, just not commenting much these days, but you're ALWAYS in my prayers each day, Michelle.
Hope the next 8 treatments will go quickly for you, and that the after-effects will be better, too.
    Love and hugs,
    Karen

  10. HI Sweetie, I am back from my trip, and was playing catch up on how you were doing, sounds like you are well! :o) I was reading your Dec. 18th post, I can so relate to that, I stopped posting, because of those things mostly! but have stayed in touch via email with the people who understand! When I went through my Cancer Days,my life changed and my eyes were opened and STUFF does not matter to me anymore, I have lost some friendships along the way as I am sure I am hard to relate to, I am also in a struggling time right now, but I do know all that matters to me is God and my family and friends! You keep trucking girl you are going to get through this! Thank you for my card! Big Hugs Diana

  12. Wow! It sounds like Tyler is a great worker! That is awesome and shows that you did a great job of raising him. I hope that your treatment goes better this time, but I think I would feel like you do and not drag it out. I really hope you have a better time this week.

    Hugs, Sharon
