Take Me Out To the Ballgame (OK, so I really only went because I HAD to!)

As I mentioned in a previous post, our Chicago trip had something to do with business...but there were no meetings or anything for Bobby. Not sure of just how many people were on this trip but it included folks from various dealerships all over a certain region from MI. Evening activities were planned but the days were wide open to spend as we wished.

The first evening in Chicago included going to a Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox game at the U.S. Cellular Field. The whole group met in the hotel lobby, then rode a chartered bus to the stadium. GM had reserved a suite for the evening so everything was very nice.

I've got to be really honest here and admit I am NOT a sports fan! Not any sports at all. I was at least thankful we weren't sitting shoulder-to-shoulder in the stadium seats with some overzealous fans yelling, jumping and spilling stuff on ya! LOL (That might sound bad but believe me, I've had my share of those experiences at plenty of sporting events I've been to.)
A great view of the field from the suite we were in.
There was so much good food to eat in that suite! Sorry, no picture, though :( Aw, I felt soooo deprived since I'm trying to eat healthier and avoid sugar. Let me just say it didn't help one bit when Bobby brought this cheesecake over to me to share with him. Forget chocolate...cheesecake is my all-time favorite dessert in the world! I took 2 bites (honest, it was only two!) and said enough after that :) I was both pleased & surprised I actually had the willpower to push it away!!! LOL
Bobby was intently watching the game. (Notice what shirt he's wearing?) The Detroit Tigers were playing a good game that night. It was tied for several innings and the game went into overtime. Our group left around the 9th or 10th inning. Not 100% sure but I think it ended up going into 14 innings and I know the White Sox won.
They were getting ready for the game to begin...

Tomorrow I'll post about getting to meet Kelly and her sweet family. Meeting a fellow blogger was definitely one of the highlights of the trip for me!

People were chatting about their Wednesday plans on the bus ride over to the stadium and as you may know, my husband is quite talkative and outgoing. Bobby started telling a few people that we were going to meet a friend of mine who I'd met through my blog and I just looked at him like, 'oh puh-leeze don't start telling people that'...my eyes were having a whole conversation with him in a single second! LOL 'Cause you do realize that people who don't know much about blogging sometimes think it's creepy and weird to actually meet up in person with those you've met on the internet, don't ya?! Has anyone else had that experience? I honestly just didn't want to get into this big long conversation about it right at that moment ;)

Thanks so much for looking at our Chicago pictures...can't wait to show you more tomorrow!

Until next time,
Michelle

  5. Since I'm a blogger & know that they sometimes have the opportunity to meet other bloggers I don't think it's strange at all. I'd love to meet fellow bloggers.....we already feel like we know each other anyway!

Chicago sounds & looks like a great city but I'm with you on the sports thing.....not for me. Thanks for sharing your pics!

  7. GIRL! your willpower amazes me! I mean, he was splitting that cheesecake with you, wasn't he? that was 1/2 the calories already --- at least that would have been my excuse! heehee!

My Dad and brother are HUGE baseball fans, so I grew up with sports all around. I don't care to watch it on TV, but I do enjoy a good game :o) I think a good game is determined by the people you're with too.

  8. LOL! I would have reacted just like you if my hubby brought up my blog! Oh man! But on the other hand it shows how loving and supportive he is of you and your blog!

For a non-baseball/sports fan you sure had a long game to sit through! I went to bed after the
11th inning! The suite was probably great though!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
    Hugs!
